In 2013, grantee IT’S TIME came to the DC Social Innovation Project with a goal of translating their life skills and financial education curriculum into a digital game for young people. This past summer IT’S TIME collaborated with the Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center to build it’s initial prototype, $treet Beat. $treet Beat employs the use of an avatar to serve as an older brother/sister to guide students through a series of obstacles based in a virtual Wall Street environment. Ultimately, students learn investment fundamentals and reinforce their math skills.

Individuals from an array of backgrounds have committed to seeing the project through to completion. From asset and investment management professionals to nonprofit managers with proven abilities to expand youth-focused nonprofits, IT’S TIME is assembling a strong team to support the launch of $treet Beat.
