With two new grantees, ScholarCHIPS and the Healthy Babies Project, now on board–we are actively looking for volunteers to lead and staff our new pro-bono teams. Volunteer teams get the opportunity to help shape social innovation from the inside-out working with our grantees on some big strategic challenges. Let us know if you are interested in serving on a team by filling out a volunteer form or contact us if you have the dedication and capacity to serve as one of our two team leads.
Why step up to volunteer 3-5 hours per week? There are great reasons to pitch in and help. First, you get the immense satisfaction of directly tackling poverty in the District by lending your expertise to help great ideas that attack poverty successfully take root. You also learn deeply about big issues impacting our community–from teen pregnancy to infant mortality to the crippling impacts of mass incarceration. And finally, you get recognition for your incredible efforts by receiving props and accolades from the best endorser we can imagine–The President of the United States of America.
This year, we are excited to announce one extra big recognition opportunity–all the way from the White House! We have been approved as a certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. That means now you can log your hours logged on a DC Social Innovation Project pro-bono project toward this premiere recognition opportunity!
